After several years of collecting unusual nativities, I realized I didn't
own a traditional nativity. This one caught my eye because the baby
is not in a manger. He appears to be more of a pudgy
toddler, which some would see as more historically accurate considering the
presence of the wise men. “When they were come into the house, they saw
the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him:
and … presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh”
(Matthew 2:11).
