You have to see this book in person to truly appreciate the artwork. Masha, whose real name is Maria Simchow Stern, wrote and illustrated childrens books from early 1940's through at least 1970. Her work includes illustrating one of the first Little Golden Books, Three Little Kittens.

There is not a lot of information about the author, Louise Raymond, but she did work with Masha on another book titled A Child's Book of Prayers.
